Presenting online with CMRAD

Here are some suggestions to help enhance an online presentation when using CMRAD.

  • Use Dual monitors for optimal performance: Assign Monitor 1 to your meeting client (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) and Monitor 2 for presenting/sharing presentations and accessing Chrome for www.cmrad.com. Additionally, ensure landscape mode is enabled to maximize full screen DICOM image size for the online audience.

Enhance your case navigation and review skills:

  • Ensure only one DICOM viewer tab is used and closed after each review.
  • Opt for a 1x1 viewport layout whenever feasible to maximize detail for the online audience. Tip: A quick double-click on the viewport toggles between layouts.
  • Make use of various tools and shortcuts, including the pencil (B), fading arrow, fading lines, magnifier, zoom, and laser pointer, to emphasize critical image findings.
  • Preload your study or series to ensure optimal performance during your presentation. Before going live, make sure to fully preload your case collection at least once, ensuring that each study is cached effectively and that performance aligns with expectations.
  • Bookmark your case collection for fast access.
  • Use the case collection for the best workflow during your session.

Network and Permission Considerations:

  • Avoid VPNs and hospital networks:  While it is acceptable to use hospital networks for presenting online, it is advisable to test them beforehand to ensure there are no limitations or restrictions. If possible, avoid using VPNs, as they may reduce performance.
  • Network Restrictions: Hospital networks often have strict security protocols and bandwidth limitations, which may impact the performance and quality of your online presentation.
  • Testing and Permissions: Test all access and share permissions before live events if presenting via a hospital network. Ensure all necessary programs, ports, and connections are open and accessible to avoid last-minute technical issues.
  • Alternative Solutions: If network performance is inadequate, consider using a personal hotspot or an alternative network connection to ensure a stable and high-speed internet connection.  Be familiar with switching networks, such as using 5G if needed.
  • Ensure your internet bandwidth is greater than 30 Mbps. Test your speed here.

System Performance:

  • Close all unnecessary programs to free up computer resources and enhance performance.
  • Temporarily mute all notifications to avoid disruptions during your live presentation.

By following these tips, you can ensure a smooth and effective online presentation, optimizing both performance and user experience. Remember, practice makes perfect.
